#YemziGirl Feature 1 (March) - Djura, Illustration student from The Netherlands, 19

Good Evening Guys!

It's the first Sunday of the month which means we're shining light on a Yemzi girl! First up is Djura, the talent behind the illustrations that we've been posting on the @YemziLdn

1. Hey Djura please introduce yourself`
Hi! My name is Djura Hight, I live in the Netherlands and I am 19 years old. I study illustration at the art academy, but I also have a big passion for fashion. I actually studied fashion design last year, but I found out that illustrating suits me better than actually making clothes. My dream is to become a (fashion) illustrator and to collaborate with brands. My collaboration with ‘Yemzi’ is therefore very special to me. What’s better than to collaborate with a brand you believe in and support?

2. What's your main hustle and what's dope about it?
My main hustle is illustrating in all different kind of ways. I love to try out different kind of techniques or materials, I am always searching for a characteristic kind of style. I want to be different, I want to stand out. There are great artist all over the world who are even better than me. But, the key is, to have an unique kind of style and to make art that surprises people. The sketchy black and white illustrations I used for this collaboration is I think a very characteristic style of me. I still need to develop it, but that’s alright. Practice makes unforgettable art.

3. What do you get up to for fun?
If you would ask me this one year ago, I would probably say shopping. But I actually enjoy the simplest things now. I love to spend time with the family, I love little parties. I enjoy going to gym and to dance. I spent al lot of time with my boyfriend and we are always doing something fun. Hanging out with friends is also something I enjoy.

4. What 3 thing do you love most about your city?
I live in Utrecht and I actually never thought it was very special. I live there my whole life, I am just used to it. But if I compare it with other cities in the Netherlands, Utrecht is truly great. You got all kinds of stores here, like the populair ones as ZARA and Pull and bear, but also second-hand shops. I like the architecture and last but not least, I love the diversity. You can find here all different kinds of cultures but I also see a lot of girls and boys with an unique appearance.

5. What makes you a Yemzi girl?
I think a Yemzi girl is someone who will always follow her dreams. She is open-minded and her truly self. I strive to live the life I want to live, which I think is very important. I am a Yemzi girl, because I do, think, and create what I want.

6. What's your favourite Yemzi piece?
My favorite Yemzi piece is the crop top and skirt set- Floral network pink co-ord

7. Are you more of a plain or printed type of girl?
I am both. I like to wear a full printed dress but I also like to wear a full plain outfit. It depends on my mood I guess.

8. Yemzi Black Label or Yemzi Gold Collection?
This is a tough one, because I really like both. But I think that the Yemzi Black label is more my style.

9. Top 3 natural beauty tips?
African black soap, aloe vera and argan oil! Absolutely great for a your skin.

10. And finally, what's your favourite quote?
